As a college freshman, Karli went to work full time for a Boise, Idaho, start-up, playing a variety of instrumental roles in every aspect of the business, from product development and marketing to finance and IS. Treasure Valley Business Group (TVBG) is today a multimillion dollar diversified sales and marketing company. Karli remained with the company throughout college and through 2005. Also during that period, she launched a nonprofit and a California-based media company, implementing systems to develop all aspects of the business, including marketing, finance, IT, creative development, business development, and corporate funding.

Karli spent a year with the International Foundation in Washington, D.C., an organization dedicated to fostering dialogue among world leaders, particularly those from emerging or conflict-ridden nations. From 2005 to 2006, she served as regional administrator for Young Life, Inc., one of the world's largest nonprofits, which provides coaching and mentoring programs for junior and senior high school students. More recently, she has served as a board member of a Boise-area recycling project and a consultant to area startups, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits on a variety of business issues. In 2003, she helped launch the Millionaires' Forum, a nationwide program that brings together successful businesspeople and university students to discuss matters of ethics and faith.

Karli is a 2003 graduate of the University of Idaho, with a B.S. in business management and human resources.
